Sometime WWE champion AJ Lee has announced a shock return to the wrestling business.

Lee, at present working under her real name AJ Mendez, has joined the relaunched WOW – Women of Wrestling, which has signed a deal with Viacom CBS.

Mendez will be the color commentator on the show, and will also act every bit an executive producer alongside owner Jeanie Osculation.

Speaking at a printing conference announcing the relaunch, Mendez said: "My goal after wrestling was to create those characters for the adjacent generation.

"So every little daughter could come across themselves on Television receiver and know that nothing was impossible."

AJ had appear her retirement from WWE in Apr 2015.

She was a three-time WWE Divas Champion, and held the record for longest title reign at 295 days.

Also appear as joining WOW was erstwhile Impact World Champion and Impact Knockouts Champion Tessa Blanchard, who most recently has been wrestling with Lucha Libre AAA in Mexico.

Blanchard was defendant of using racial slurs confronting another wrestler before her contract was terminated at Impact, but she has strenuously denied the allegations.

"Racist? That's non me, that's never been me, I don't accept a history of being that way," she said in an Instagram post last September.

"I don't have a history of using that language & that's the end of it, it's but not who I am."

New episodes of WOW will launch in weekend syndication, starting in the autumn of 2022.
