Stormfront Nets Emmy for Neverwinter Nights

Neverwinter Nights has been acknowledged for trailblazing the MMOG genre.

At the 59th Annual Technology and Engineering Emmy Awards held during the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), The National Academy of Tv set Arts and Sciences (NATAS) honoured Stormfront Studios with an Emmy for its 1991 breakthrough form of address Neverwinter Nights, the first graphical massively-multiplayer online roleplaying game. Sony Online Entertainment and Blizzard Entertainment were besides recognized for their work in furthering the genre's development with Everquest and World of Warcraft, respectively.

The award was given by Gary Shapiro, president and Chief Executive Officer of the Consumer Electronics Association, legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin and Peter Price, president and Chief Executive director Officer of the National Honorary society of Television Arts & Sciences.

The Technology & Engineering Awards are acknowledged to those who advance the use, creativity and adaptation of technology that enhances consumer experiences with media. Last year, Nintendo was recognized for its ontogenesis of the directional plod.

Neverwinter Nights Extend to Intriguer Don Daglow, accepted the award for Stormfront and its publishers, AOL and Wizards of the Seashore. "These games are not just entertainment. They ramp up new kinds of communities and create abstruse people-to-people relationships.
